Witnessing a Seizure?
Stay calm and act wisely with these do's & don'ts2,3
Do's
- Cushion their head if they are on the ground
- Loosen tight clothing
- Talk to them calmly until they recover
- Note seizure start and finish time
- Turn them on their side after the seizure stops
- Call an ambulance if the seizure lasts for >5 minutes or has difficulty breathing after the seizure
Don'ts
- Do not panic
- Avoid moving them unless they are in danger
- Do not put anything in their mouth
- Avoid crowding
- Do not hold them down
- Do not try to stop seizure movements
